Overview

We are seeking an experienced Benefits & Payroll Manager to lead and manage both payroll and employee benefits functions with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment. This role is essential in ensuring seamless operations across payroll processing, benefits administration, and sales compensation programs.

Payroll Management

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for U.S. employees in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process semi-monthly and monthly payrolls using payroll software, ensuring accurate calculation and distribution of wages, bonuses, commissions, and incentive payments.
  • Administer sales compensation programs, including variable bonus, commission structures, STI, and LTI payments.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports and conduct audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure payroll inputs align with employment agreements, benefits, and tax requirements.
  • Support financial reporting by providing detailed payroll data for P&L statements and income statements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and respond to inquiries regarding payroll and compensation matters.
  • Assist with year-end processes, including W-2s, 1099s, and related tax filings.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve payroll operations and compliance.
  • Serve as the point of contact for audits and external reporting related to payroll.

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee all aspects of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, wellness programs, and 401(k) plans.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for benefits vendors and brokers; lead annual benefits renewals and open enrollment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all benefits-related federal and state laws, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and assist with problem resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee enrollments, terminations, and changes in HRIS systems.
  • Conduct benefits orientation sessions and ensure employees are well-informed of their options and responsibilities.
  • Partner with HR leadership to evaluate and recommend benefit plan design changes based on employee needs, market trends, and cost analysis.
  • Monitor and report on benefits usage, costs, and trends to support strategic planning.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits management, preferably in a multi-state and mid-to-large company environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales employee compensation programs including commissions, bonuses, and STI.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits compliance requirements (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUP.
